Hornworts

A small bryophyte plants belonging to the phylum Anthocerophyta; any of several submerged plants of the genus Ceratophyllum, forming branched masses in quiet water and having finely dissected, whorled leaves and minute unisexual flowers. 

Unlike liverworts but like mosses, hornwort sporophytes have stomata. The hornwort gametophyte consists of a low thallus, out of which numerous slender, upright sporophytes tipped with sporangia grow. The sporophyte has a meristem that elongates the sporophyte with new growth, a feature that distinguishes the plant from the other bryophytes. The name of the hornworts was suggested by the hornlike appearance of the sporophytes.

Plant Cell Plant cells contain a variety of membrane-bound structures called organelles. These include a nucleus that carries genetic material; mitochondria that generate energy; ribosomes and rough endoplasmic reticulum that manufacture proteins; smooth endoplasmic reticulum that manufactures lipids used for making membranes and storing energy; and a thin lipid membrane that surrounds the cell. Plant cells also contain chloroplasts that capture energy from sunlight and a single fluid-filled vacuole that stores compounds and helps in plant growth. Plant cells are surrounded by a rigid cell wall that protects the cell and maintains its shape. The tremendous variety of plant species is, in part, a reflection of the many distinct cell types that make up individual plants. Snakeweed

Snakeweed, or European bisort, also does well in bog gardens, and is commonly grown in Europe. It is 45 to 75 cm (18 to 30 in) tall and has leaves 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 in) long, with a prominent white vein down the middle of each. The pink flowers are arranged on a long stem and form a cylindrical spike. Lace vine is a climbing vine with fragrant, white, threadlike flowers arranged in loose clusters that resemble lace.
